NBSC holds faculty onboarding program for the 2nd Semester of SY 2022-2023

The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Northern Bukidnon State College held its Onboarding Program for the faculty at the campus AVR last January 16-19, 2023. The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, together with the director for Quality Assurance, Dr. Daniel S. Lerongan, and the director of the Teaching and Learning Center, Dr. Maria Theresa B. Markines, headed the 4-day program.

The onboarding program started with TULAY, the NBSC’s induction and support program for the new faculty. This semester, batch 1 of the TULAY program was introduced to the importance of authentic assessment, the GRASPS model of assessing non-traditional course activities, and the kindness curriculum, while batches 2 and 3 were introduced to the content and cycle of Tulay and the NBSC’s 2F3C framework.

Moreover, Dr. Markines emphasized in her talk the importance of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and the constructive alignment between learning assessments, institutional outcomes, program educational objectives, program outcomes, and learning outcomes. Dr. Lerongan, on the other hand, gave the faculty a deeper understanding of heutagogy as it is embedded in NBSC’s pedagogical flow. He also provided a new perspective on how to handle and evaluate oral presentations, which is becoming a common manifestation of heutagogy. Through Dr. Delosa’s leadership in the academic cluster, together with the Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Helen E. Maasin, and the College President, Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, the NBSC faculty were guided in creating a culture for the advancement of the art and science of transformative teaching and learning.

Since NBSC is shifting from fully online to a hybrid teaching and learning modality in the second semester of SY 2022-2023, all faculty of NBSC were prepared and equipped to welcome the new normal brought about by the post-pandemic. Ms. Rowena E. Bagongon of the Student Affairs Services, Mr. Niño T. Baran from the Registrar’s Office, and Mr. Fritchar H. Gevero, the Security and Safety Officer, provided updates and announcements regarding the whats and hows of this semester’s admission, campus security and safety, and the conduct of hybrid classes.
